Description: Plane Treet Capital is seeking an Investment Manager (Associate/Senior Associate) for its Carbon & Renewable Energy Private Equity Team.

Plane Tree Capital is a London-based environmental finance company with presence in Sao Paulo and Mexico City.  Plane Tree Capital is Investment Advisor to Carbon Capital Markets Ltd and its Carbon Assets Fund, a pioneering carbon hedge fund that is fully invested in a global portfolio of emissions reduction projects developed under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism.  Plane Tree Capital is currently in the process of raising a private equity fund to invest in emissions reduction and renewable energy projects developed in Latin America.

Plane Tree Capital is looking for an investment manager with strong project management and structured finance experience to play a key role in investing the new Fund. 

Experience:

• MBA from top tier business school or alternatively top performer with 4 to 5 years experience in either bulge bracket investment bank or private equity firm;
• Experience structuring and managing transactions
• Experience of project management with track record of leading both internal and external teams
• Experience of conducting complex negotiations and managing diverse professional relationships
• Experience in working with emerging countries and/or carbon and renewable energy markets is a plus.

Specific skills:

• Fluent Spanish and Portuguese
• Outstanding academic background
• Excellent analytical and problem solving ability
• Sound financial modelling (DCF, LBO etc.)
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.

General Characteristics:

• Highly motivated, intelligent and commercial with exceptional interpersonal and team skills
• Independent self starter, with demonstrated ability to work in a small and highly entrepreneurial company / rapidly evolving industry
• Ability to learn fast and quickly build any missing parts of basic skill-set (origination, transaction structuring, investment execution, portfolio management and exit).
