Madoff Returned To Prison Cell After Hospital Stay

Arch fraudster Bernard Madoff spent his first Christmas in prison in a hospital room. But he’ll be marking his first New Year’s Day back in his prison cell.

Madoff, who is serving a 150-year sentence for running a $65 billion Ponzi scheme, was returned to his cell at his North Carolina prison on Monday after 11 days in the hospital. He was transferred their on Dec. 18 due to dizziness and high blood pressure.

Earlier reports had indicated that Madoff had been assaulted in prison, but prison officials have denied that he was attacked.
