Hedge Fund Serengeti Heats Up

Jan 11 2010 | 2:48am ET

Serengeti Asset Management has put 2008 behind it in a big way.

The firm, headed by Goldman Sachs veteran Jody LaNasa, saw its Overseas fund nearly double last year. That vehicle soared 87% in 2009, according to MarketWatch, after plummeting 50% in 2009.

Overseas wasn’t the only Serengeti hedge fund to enjoy 2009. Its Rapax fund rose 41% last year. But unlike Overseas, the financials-focused fund added 11% in 2008.
