A Fortress Investment Group veteran is planning a global macro hedge fund of his own.

Sri Wijegoonaratna has founded a new firm called Galle Global Partners and is readying its maiden fund for launch, The Wall Street Journal reports. Wijegoonaratna, better known as “Wije,” was co-manager of Fortress’ flagship Drawbridge Global Macro fund.

Drawbridge, which was hit by double-digit losses in 2008 and saw redemptions suspended, bounced back last year, rising more than 20%.
