Onzo Partners, Silver Springs Networks Aim To Help Cut Energy Costs

Onzo, a UK-based designer of domestic energy management systems, has partnered with California’s Silver Spring Networks, a leading provider of smart grid networking technology and services.

Onzo’s first product, scheduled for a mid-2009 launch, includes an energy display and intelligent web portal to help consumers reduce energy consumption.

Silver Spring Networks’ Smart Energy Network allows for the transmission of data from advanced energy management systems.

The partnership with Onzo falls within the framework of Silver Spring Network’s Technology Alliance Partner program, launched in April 2008, under which the company teams with vendors whose products and applications complement the Smart Energy Network.

 “We are delighted to have Onzo as a partner in our Technology Alliance program,” said John O’Farrell, Silver Spring Networks executive vice president. “Onzo’s advanced and innovative energy management systems are being designed to convert data transmitted via the Smart Energy Network into a consumer-friendly context, making the benefits of the smart grid real.”

In April 2008, Onzo raised GBP 2 million in a funding round led by Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) and Sigma Capital Group.
