International law firm Maples and Calder has recently appointed Jon Fowler as the head of its investment funds group in the Cayman Islands.

The firm has also announced that David Brooks, previously the head of the investment funds group at Maples and Calder, has moved to the newly-created post of chairman of Maples Finance. Maples Finance is a full service fund administrator with $30 billion in assets under administration. It also provides independent directors to investment funds.  Brooks continues to be a partner in the Maples and Calder funds group.

"We expect to see increased demand for independent director services and fund administration for investment funds as a result of investors' requirements," said Henry Smith, global managing partner at the firm.

Another development within the Maples and Calder investment funds group is the recent recruitment of Tatziana Paraguacuto-Maheo as a partner in the firm's London office.
