CalPERS Adds Former BGI Fixed-Income Exec.

The U.S.’s largest public pension fund has hired a former Barclays Global Investors executive as chief operating investment officer.

Janine Guillot will work on strategy implementation at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, which manages $200 billion. At CalPERS—one of the world’s largest investors in hedge funds and private equity funds—Guillot will focus on alternative investments, real estate and public-market portfolios.

Guillot worked at BGI—the world’s 10th-largest hedge fund manager—since 2002. She was chief operating officer of its $450 billion global fixed-income business.

BlackRock acquired BGI is December.
