Scotia Adds Prime Brokerage Vet To U.S. Biz.

Canada’s Scotia Capital is looking south to build its prime brokerage business.

The Bank of Nova Scotia division has hired the former head of prime brokerage at Barclays Capital to lead its New York office. John Stracquadanio will join the firm in July as co-head of Scotia’s global prime brokerage group. He has been charged with building Scotia’s New York prime brokerage business.

Stracquandanio has been head of hedge fund servicing at Barclays for the past dozen years. He’s also done stints at Morgan Stanley and ING.
