RCM Partners is taking its Canadian special situations fund offshore.
The firm plans a Cayman Islands-domiciled version of its RCM Special Situations Fund, Hedge Funds Review reports. The onshore fund is domiciled in Canada, debuting in October, although Michael Ruscetta, the firm’s chief investment officer, has been running the strategy since November 2008.
The fund invests in Canadian equities and credit, with about 20 long positions and seven shorts. According to Ruscetta, the strategy is up 102% since inception and has never suffered a losing month.
The offshore fund will launch with US$20 million in assets, seeded in part by Accelerator Capital Management.
