Millennium Picks Lehman Vet To Head Asia Biz.

Millennium Management is boosting its presence in Asia, naming the Lehman Brothers’ former head of Asian investment banking as its new chairman in the region.

Kunho Cho will lead the New York-based hedge fund’s growth in the region. In particular, he is charged with overseeing its dealings with governments, regulators and its investors in Asia.

Millennium also said it had promoted Hyung Lee to head of Asian capital markets. Lee has been head of Asian fixed-income at the firm.

Millennium has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

“We believe strongly in the continued growth and opportunity in Asia,” Millennium founder Israel Englander said. “We aspire to be one of the leading alternative asset managers in Asia,” he added.
