Mortgage investment firm Amherst Securities Group has snagged a mortgage-based securities trader from hedge fund C12 Capital Management.

John Caputo has joined the Austin, Texas-based firm as its top commercial mortgage-backed securities trader. He’ll continue to be based in New York, where he has managed both CMBS and residential mortgage-backed securities trading at C12.

“We are convinced that John’s extensive trading and loan credit background will be critical to our success as we build out this important new platform at Amherst,” CEO Dean Dobson said.
