Citigroup Alternatives Unit Hires Barr

Dean Barr has been named managing director and head of liquid investments at Citigroup Alternative Investments. In the new position, Barr will supervise management teams in the hedge fund, managed futures, structured finance and credit derivative proprietary trading, said Jon Diat, spokesman. Barr will report to Michael Carpenter, chairman and ceo of the alternative business.

Barr was president and ceo of Thunder Bay Capital Management, a hedge fund firm he founded in 2003. Prior to that he served as global cio at Deutsche Asset Management.

The status of Thunder Bay could not be immediately determined.
