Ex-Merrill Prime Brokerage Chief Ford Lands At HSBC

Prime brokerage veteran Melvyn Ford has joined HSBC to head hedge-fund coverage in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ford was named to the newly-created post of managing director for global banking in the financial institutions group, Asian Investor reports. Based in Hong Kong, he will seek to lure hedge funds to HSBC and to create trade ideas.

Ford left Merrill Lynch, where he was head of Asian prime brokerage, in early 2008.
