Moore Capital Management’s new Zurich office will be the home of one of the hedge fund’s more prominent recent hires. The New York-based hedge fund said that Jean-Philippe Blochet, the Brevan Howard Capital Management co-founder who joined Moore in January, will move from London to Switzerland, Bloomberg News reports.
The move will give Moore at least two portfolio managers in Zurich; Kornelius Klobuchar has also relocated from the British capital. The firm is expected to hire further staff, or to move additional London-based personnel, as well.
Moore is just the latest hedge fund with substantial British operations to open an office in Switzerland, following similar moves by firms including Blochet’s old hedge fund, Brevan Howard. The Swiss openings follow a major tax increase on high earners and fears of strict European Union hedge fund regulations. Switzerland is not a member of the EU.
Blochet was named a senior portfolio manager at Moore two months after he retired from Brevan Howard.
