Third Point Jumps In July, Up Double-Digits In ‘10

Unlike most of his peers, Third Point’s Dan Loeb enjoyed a strong first half. And the New York-based hedge fund has started the second half with a similarly robust performance.

Third Point’s hedge funds rose between 2.9% and 4% last month, Dealbreaker.com reports. The flagship Third Point Partners fund added 3.3% on the month and is up 16.5% year-to-date.

Third Point Offshore returned 3.2% in July (13.7% year-to-date). Third Point Partners Qualified rose 2.9% (13.2% YTD), while Third Point Ultra jumped 4% (13.5% YTD).
