Conifer Taps Butterfield Fulcrum Vet To Head Fund Admin. Biz

Aug 18 2010 | 2:47pm ET

The Conifer Group has tapped Douglas Lang to serve as head of fund administration.  In his new role, Lang will manage an 18 person team that provides middle and back office services to more than 100 hedge fund clients.

Lang joins from Butterfield Fulcrum Group, where he worked for over a decade, most recently as a managing director.

“Adding a top-notch veteran like Doug to our executive team is something that is going to bring an immediate benefit to our client base,” said Jack McDonald, chief executive officer and president of Conifer.

Lang added, “As an independent hedge fund administrator that can be flexible and focus on the sort of customer service that is difficult to achieve at a larger company, we are in a unique position to capitalize. For example, one great opportunity for Conifer is the growing need for hedge funds to designate a service provider to run a redundant back office, which is especially appealing to funds looking to attract institutional investors.”
