Meridian Capital Partners has appointed Mark Gordon director of risk management.

The New York-based fund of hedge funds firm, which manages $1.5 billion, added Gordon last month, it said. He joined the firm from AllianceBernstein, where he was chief risk officer of its fixed-income business. He formerly worked at Kidder Peabody and Salomon Brothers.

Gordon is Meridian’s first director of management. The newly-minted vice president is charged with overseeing quantitative risk at the firm and doing manager and portfolio research.
