A top Fidelity Investments money manager is set to try her hand at running hedge funds.
Brenda Reed is joining New York-based George Weiss Associates. When she takes up her new post in January, she’ll launch a global long/short hedge fund, with a possible long-only fund launch in the future, Pensions & Investments reports.
“I’m really interested that their product is basically a market-neutral product,” Reed said of her new employer. “That’s exciting, because after the experience of the last couple years, that’s really what clients are looking for.”
At Fidelity, Reed manages US$1.3 billion in funds, including the firm’s Global Focus Fund, which she launched seven years ago. She’ll move from London to New York to begin her job at George Weiss.
