Newedge: CTAs Up 2.74% In Oct.

October was a good month for commodity trading advisers, according to research firm Newedge Group.

The Newedge CTA Index added 2.74% on the month and is up 9.02% on the year. That figure is well ahead of the average hedge fund's returns, according to a series of industry indices.

Trend-followers did best on the month, adding 5.12%. Short-term funds, by contrast, lost 0.49%.
