As the temperature drops on the U.S. East Coast, the flurry of litigation from the court-appointed trustee in the Bernard Madoff case is growing into a blizzard.
Irving Picard has added seven more banks to the ranks of the sued, headlined by Citigroup and France's Natixis. Of the more than $1 billion the receiver is seeking, those two banks account for $825 million. All of the suits seek the return of transfers from Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities to various Madoff feeder funds.
