Jan 6 2011 | 2:55am ET

Former hedge fund trader Haakon Olafsson has joined an energy commodities joint-venture of EDF Trading and Credit Agricole.

Olafsson worked at energy hedge fund Rampart Capital until 2009, when he was named head of European power and natural gas trading at Credit Suisse Group. He left that post in October.

At the EDF-Credit Agricole JV, Olafsson now heads European power trading, Credit Agricole said. He started this week at the firm’s London office.

London-based Rampart closed its doors in May.
