TCI Adds Ex-Gartmore Fund Manager

Feb 7 2011 | 8:56am ET

Former Gartmore Group money manager Ben Walker has joined The Children's Investment Fund Management.

Walker has been named a partner at the London-based activist hedge fund shop, Financial News reports. He'll serve as an analyst at the firm, covering everything: According to FN, he's been hired as a global generalist.

At Gartmore, Walker co-managed a global equity long/short fund. He resigned in April, just before things went off the rails for the firm with the departures of a raft of key executives and fund managers. Henderson agreed to buy Gartmore last month.

TCI has suffered a wave of high-profile exits itself in recent years, including all of its founding partners save for lead partner Christopher Hohn.
