Barclays Capital has hired a hedge fund veteran to boost its equity team in Asia.

Adrian Valenzuela, formerly of WMG Advisors, was named head of equities liquid market distribution at Barclays for Asia-Pacific. Since leaving WMG, he has made the rounds of the investment banking world, with posts at Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley. Most recently, he was global co-head of equities distribution at JPMorgan Chase.

Valenzuela left JPMorgan in June, three years after first joining the firm as head of equity derivatives flow marketing.

At Barclays, Valenzuela is charged with heading cash, electronic and flow derivatives sales.
