New York-based alternatives firm D.E. Shaw has added a 20-year Lloyds TSB Bank veteran to head its European debt and equity capital business.
Michael Joseph was named head of D.E. Shaw Direct Capital, a division of D. E. Shaw & Co. (U.K.), Ltd. that will focus on providing debt and equity capital to businesses in the United Kingdom and continental Europe.
Joseph most recently served as managing director of structured finance at Lloyds TSB, where he has also worked in the private equity group. Before joining Lloyds TSB, he was investment director at British p.e. and venture capital firm 3i Group.
