Apr 5 2011 | 9:52am ET

Aberdeen Asset Management has added BlueCrest Capital Management's Andrew McCaffery to focus on its institutional offerings.

McCaffery was named head of institutional hedge funds at the firm. It will be his second stint at Aberdeen, having worked at the firm from 2006 through 2008.

In the interim, McCaffery has been at BlueCrest, where he helped set up its Alignment Investors institutional fixed-income group. He was formerly CEO at Attica Alternative Investments and a managing director, charged with global hedge fund investor coverage, at UBS.

McCaffery's "return will strengthen further our fund of hedge funds team as we look to build the business," new boss Anne Richards, chief investment officer and head of alternative investment strategies, said.
