Goldman Vets Headline Europe’s ’40 Under 40’ For Hedge Funds

May 18 2011 | 11:30am ET

Fifteen young hedge fund founders made the newest “40 under 40” list, covering European, Middle Eastern and African hedge fund managers.

Former Goldman Sachs proprietary traders Daniele Benatoff, Ali Hedayat and Ariel Roskis are among the entrepreneurs on Financial News’ first 40 Under 40 Rising Starts of Hedge Funds list. Benatoff and Roskis founded Benros Capital, while Hedayat works at Edoma Capital, founded by former Goldman Sachs prop. trading chief Pierre-Henri Flamand. Also on the list is Frederic Denjoy, the former Brevan Howard Asset Management partner, whose Denjoy Capital Partners debuted earlier this month.

The list is not exclusively composed of hedge fund managers and executives: A trio of prime brokerage executives, including Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Charlotte Burkeman, and four pension or advisory firm executives, are also on the list.

The youngest players on the list, both 29, are Geoff Bamber, chief investment officer of Skyline Capital, and Thames River Capital portfolio manager Simone Lowe.
