Harbinger Wireless Network Talks Capacity With AT&T

Jun 2 2011 | 11:29am ET

Harbinger Capital Partners' wireless broadband venture has yet to transmit a single datum, but it's already looking for extra capacity.

LightSquared is in talks with AT&T Inc. to use that company's 4G network when it needs to, Bloomberg News reports. Like LightSquared, AT&T is in the process of building its 4G network and, like LightSquared, plans to introduce it in select cities later this year.

The discussions between LightSquared and AT&T are still in their preliminary stages, according to Bloomberg.

Earlier this year, LightSquared—in which Harbinger has invested some 40% of its assets—signed its first deals to offer 4G services through Best Buy Connect and pay-as-you-go carrier Leap Wireless International.
