New York-based private equity firm Pine Brook has hired DE Shaw & Company alumnus Richard Aube as managing director.
Aube will take responsibility for Pine Brook’s energy investments along with current energy partners Mike McMahon, Oliver Goldstein and Craig Jarchow. Pine Brook specializes in investments in new and growing energy and financial services businesses.
Aube had been a managing director responsible for North American private equity at DE Shaw. Prior to that, he was a partner at JP Morgan Partners, where he focused on growth equity and buyout investments in the energy and industrial sectors. Before that, Aube was a partner with the Beacon Group, an investment and advisory firm where he co-managed the firm’s energy funds.
“The energy sector is ripe with opportunities, and we are excited to tap Rich’s more than 20 years of energy business investment experience,” said Howard Newman, Pine Brook CEO. “Rich’s knowledge and insights will be an immediate asset to our team as we continue to build great energy businesses.”
