UBS, which is the process of shuttering its hedge fund Dillon Read Capital Management, is simultaneously building up its alternative and quantitative investments platform with a promotion and a new hire.

Rick Nardis, who for the past six years has served as a senior investment officer in A&Q’s multi-manager provider Alternative Investment Solutions, has been named deputy chief investment officer of the unit, UBS said today.

In addition, AIS has added Euripides Matos as senior investment officer, with responsibility for hedge fund research in the credit, equity arbitrage and fixed-income/trading strategies. Matos most recently worked as vice president of multi-manager funds of hedge funds at JPMorgan Chase.

A&Q manages some $53 billion in funds of hedge funds, funds of private equity funds and long-only funds.
