Quantitative hedge fund giant CQS has hired its first chief strategist for the Western Hemisphere.

Lenore Petteruti joined the London-based firm, which has US$11 billion in assets under management, as chief portfolio strategist for the Americas last month. She'll work with clients on portfolio construction and asset allocation, as well as offering investment advice.

Petteruti joins from fund of hedge funds Corbin Capital Partners, where she was chief risk officer. At Corbin, she has been replaced by Alan Chuang, who will also handle risk management and portfolio solutions.

Chuang, in turn, joined Corbin from fund of funds Antarctica Asset Management, where he was head of investment strategy and was not replaced, Pensions & Investments reports.

Petteruti served as chief investment officer at fund of funds Mezzacappa Management before joining Corbin. She also formerly ran hedge fund risk management at ING Barings and was a hedge fund risk officer at Merrill Lynch.
