Event-driven specialist Rangeley Capital has hired a director of strategic development.

Robert Sterner joins the New Canaan, Conn.-based firm from Lyster Watson, where he was vice president of business development. He formerly served as a portfolio solutions and product implementation client adviser at Barclays Wealth and in the private investment management unit of Lehman Brothers.

"His arrival will also allow the portfolio managers to refocus on our portfolio and investment opportunities," Chris DeMuth, co-founder, told HFMWeek. "His background has been in building relationships with investors as well as developing strategy."
