Harbinger Capital Partners' wireless broadband venture has struck another deal, despite continuing questions about the project's viability.
LightSquared will provide 4G services for ClearTalk Wireless, a flat-rate wireless phone company in the U.S. west and southwest. The deal will provide greater connectivity for ClearTalk's rural customers.
"ClearTalk is committed to providing our customers with the latest in high-speed broadband services," ClearTalk CEO Kevin Beierschmitt said. "This agreement extends a national, reliable, state-of-the-art 4G-LTE network throughout the ClearTalk service area. Our customers deserve great broadband services, and we are delivering these services to them."
The ClearTalk deal follows a major $13.5 billion deal between LightSquared and Sprint Nextel Corp., under which the latter will actually build the LightSquared network.
