UBS Global Asset Management has hired a pair of alternative investment veterans to its global fixed-income team.

Former Polar Capital macro chief Paul Lambert will become head of currency and lead portfolio manager of its Currency Alpha Fund at the end of October, and Union Bancaire Privée absolute return manager Kevin Zhao a senior portfolio manager.

Lambert left Polar after his US$48 million Discovery fund was shut down. He formerly worked at Deutsche Asset Management. In addition to Currency Alpha, Lambert will have a hand managing UBS' other currency strategies.

Zhao worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management before joining UBP.
