Mutual Fund Names Hedge Exec. U.S. Growth CIO

Mutual fund firm American Century Investments has hired an alternative investments specialist to head its domestic growth equity group.

Stephen Lurito, who currently manages a $70 million hedge fund and $57 million in private equity investments at New York-based MUUS Asset Management, joins Kansas City, Mo.-based American Century on July 9. Before joining MUUS, Lurito worked at Warburg Pincus Asset Management for 14 years.

At American Century, Lurito will serve as chief investment officer of U.S. growth equity portfolios, managing some $30 billion.
