M&G Investments has hired a former Occam Asset Management portfolio manager to run its £22 million European dividend fund.

Phil Cliff takes the reins of the Pan European Dividend Fund from Richard Halle, who will now focus on the firm’s £102 million European Strategic Value Fund. Cliff formerly managed the Europe Focus and Sorbus funds at Occam, leaving the firm after its acquisition by Liontrust Asset Management. Prior to joining Occam in 2007, Cliff managed Threadneedle Asset Management’s £1 billion European fund.

“Phil brings a wealth of additional experience in European equities and an excellent performance record,” Dave Fishwick, head of macro and equity investment at M&G, said.
