D. E. Shaw Hires Former Cypress Managing Director

The D. E. Shaw recently hired David Lyon, a former managing director of The Cypress Group, to bolster its special situations/distressed private equity business. Lyon will work with Patrick Collins, a senior vice president who heads the firm’s private equity team, to expand the firm’s existing activities in this space.

Prior to Cypress, Lyon held positions at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Och-Ziff Capital Management.

“We’re extremely pleased that Pat is leading this important effort, and we’re quite excited about the opportunities he, David, and the rest of our team are pursuing,” said Daniel Posner, a managing director of D. E. Shaw & Co.
