Dow Jones Credit Suisse Index: Hedge Funds Gain 1.31% In February

Hedge funds rose 1.31% in February, with convertible arbitrage funds making the most gains for month and for the year thus far, according to the Dow Jones Credit Suisse Core Hedge Fund Index.

Convertible arbitrage funds gained 2.34% last month, and are up 5.89% for the year.  They are followed by long/short equity funds, which returned 2.05% last month and are up 5.32% year to date, reports the index.

On the other end of the spectrum, fixed income arbitrage funds have been performing slowly, gaining just 0.43% in February and 1.36% year to date.
