Mar 30 2012 | 12:19pm ET

Hedge Fund Research has nabbed an architect of HedgeFund.net's commercial database business to lead its own such effort.

Joel Schwab has joined HFR as managing director in charge of business development for the company's hedge fund database and research products. A lawyer, Schwab most recently served as senior vice president of alternatives for eVestment Alliance, which acquired HFN's parent, Channel Capital Group, last year.

At HFN, Schwab launched and developed the hedge fund database commercial business.

"As HFR continues to expand its coverage and analysis of the hedge fund industry, Joel will provide complementary leadership and offer new development direction in meeting the evolving product demands of HFR clients," Scott Esser, managing director at HFR, said.
