BlueCrest Capital Management has named a Russell Investment Group executive to lead its U.K. institutional coverage.

Greg Clerkson joined the hedge fund in January as head of global consultant relations. He reports to head of sales and marketing Bob Shea, Financial News reports.

Clerkson spent less than two years at Russell, where he had been charged with expanding that firm's hedge fund advisory business. He joined Russell in August 2010 from Royal Bank of Canada Investment Management.

BlueCrest's assets under management have nearly doubled in the past two years.

At Russell, Clerkson's responsibilities have been taken over by Nick Spencer, a director at its consulting business.
