Hedge fund Whitebox Advisors has hired Aplos Advisors founder Paul Karos to help run its stock funds.
Minneapolis-based Whitebox had been in talks with Karos about a strategic partnership between it and his firm. Instead, he joined the $2.3 billion firm earlier this month as a senior portfolio manager, HFMWeek reports.
Karos will manage both hedge funds and long-only equity products. He worked at Credit Suisse and Piper Jaffray before launching Aplos.
