Wilton, Conn.-based institutional money manager Commonfund has hired Stephen J. Wagenbach as director of consultant relations.

Wagenbach comes to Commonfund from Schroder Investment Management, where he managed both consulting and intermediary relationships. Wagenbach’s resume also includes four years with CIO consultant Investment Solutions and almost five years with BARRA RogersCasey (now Segal RogersCasey). He began his career in corporate lending with Chase Manhattan Bank.

In his new role with Commonfund, Wagenbach will cover the Midwest region from his base in Wilton and will report to Lou Ann Dolan, managing director and group head of consultant relations.

“Steve is an important and timely addition to Commonfund’s consultant relations group,” said Dolan in a statement. “As asset pools of all types embrace an increasingly complex array of alternatives,it’s vital that we expand our resources to work closely with both institutional consultants as well as the family office and RIA community.”

Founded in 1971, Commonfund—either directly or through subsidiaries Commonfund Capital and Commonfund Asset Management Company—manages over $26 billion for over 1,500 clients.
