Kleinwort Benson has named Absolute Fund Managers' business development and marketing head its first executive director of the former.

Kleinwort created the new role for Andrew Wheeler in its private wealth management unit. Wheeler will join the firm in July, CityWire reports.

At AFM, Wheeler was head of business development for client-focused hedge fund products. He also formerly worked at Deutsche Bank and Unigestion.

"We are continuing to build a formidable private wealth management team and Andrew is a strategic appointment for us," Kleinwort's Stephen Rothwell said. "He brings with him a strong, and high-profile, track record in business development and proven long-term relationships with a vast network of professional advisers."
