New Firm Expedition Hires Mizuho Asia Exec.

John Paul Armenio, the former CEO of Mizuho Securities Asia, has moved to a new hedge fund in the region.

Armenio will serve as a managing partner at Hong Kong-based Expedition Advisors. He'll oversee Expedition chief operating officer Kam Bahra, who joined the hedge fund from Spark Asia Investment Advisors earlier this year.

Armenio and Expedition founder Craig James, formerly head of Asian trading at AM Investment Partners, have known each other for 15 years, Reuters reports. The former spent 14 years at Morgan Stanley before joining Mizuho three years ago.

Expedition is backed by Protégé Partners. It debuted in May.
