Third Point Re Hires Two

Third Point's reinsurance business has hired a pair of industry veterans.

Bermuda-based Third Point Re, which the hedge fund launched last year, has added Bryan Bumsted and Chris Conway. Bumsted is a retrocession underwriter at Q Re, and Conway was assistant vice president of reinsurance underwriting at Axis Re Bermuda, Artemis reports.

Third Point raised about $500 million for the new business, which is led by John Berger as chief investment officer. The company went into the property catastrophe business in April, setting up a $50 million side-pocket that is headed by former Goldman Sachs executive Manoj Gupta.
