Gabelli Boosts Alts. Team

Gabelli Securities has added a Morgan Stanley and GAM veteran to its alternative investments business.

Joel Torrance was hired to assist in the firm's alts. fund business, Gabelli said in a statement. He joins after six years spent at Morgan Stanley's Graystone Research and Alternative Investment Partners units, and formerly worked at GAM and fund of hedge funds platform CMS Companies.

"As we enter a major growth phase in our alternatives business, we are pleased to have the benefit of Joel's significant knowledge and experience in the hedge fund space," Michael Gabelli said. "He will be an important addition to our compliance team and will add depth to our risk framework."
