Hedge funds returned 1.11% in September, according to the SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index.

Last month's gains put the index up 7.96% year to date.

The asset-weighted performance numbers were released in tandem with the Capital Movement Index for October which shows net flows declining 0.67%.

"Inflows have remained steady, while outflows have spiked in line with quarter-end rebalancing," said Bill Stone, chairman and CEO, SS&C Technologies.

SS&C GlobeOp’s data represents approximately 10% of the hedge fund industry.
