Hedge fund Sasco Energy Partners has hired a former Barclays commodities expert to lead its fundamental research effort.

Michael Zenker was named head of fundamental research at the Westport, Conn.-based firm and joined it earlier this year. He'll cover natural gas and power, Bloomberg News reports.

Sasco, which has $630 million in assets under management, was founded in 2008 by Enron veteran Todd Esse and Tom Purdy.

Zenker left Barclays last month. He was a managing director of commodities research in New York at the British bank.
