SAC Re Hires Four

SAC Capital Advisors' four-month-old reinsurance arm is celebrating its speedy growth by trumpeting four new hires.

The Bermuda-based reinsurer, launched in July with $500 million from SAC founder Steven Cohen, private equity firm Capital Z Partners and CEO Simon Burton, among others, announced the additions to its property reinsurance, finance and risk-management teams.

The hires of Kathleen Reardon from ACE Tempest Re and Tim Duffin from Platinum Underwriters had been previously reported. Both will work in property underwriting. But SAC Re also announced the hires of Vanessa Hardy Pickering as group controller and Susan Smith as senior risk analyst.

"We are delighted to have Kathleen on board to lead our property reinsurance team going into the January renewal season," Burton said. "Her strong analytical background and deep market knowledge will be instrumental in building our property reinsurance business."
