A hedge fund software and data expert has joined First Derivatives to help it sell its own software.

Gerry Buggy was named global head of software sales at First Derivatives. He joins from Thomson Reuters, where he was global head of reference and legal entity data and hedge funds strategy.

"Gerry's addition to the leadership team comes at an interesting stage in First Derivatives’ development, where the focus is moving towards firmly establishing our Delta suite of software products and services as market-leading solutions in the areas of real-time trading and data management," CEO Brian Conlon said.

Before joining Thomson, Buggy founded Fund Clear Hedge Fund Services and infrastructure consultancy MSB, served as managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Asia at middleware provider NEON, and was global head of sales and marketing at Tibco.
