Grant Thornton has named one of its hedge fund experts to head its national asset management sector.

Michael Patanella takes the reins after more than 15 years in public accounting, during which time he's served alternative investment clients, among others. Patanella currently leads Grant Thornton's hedge fund accounting training program, and has frequently published articles about hedge funds both for Grant Thornton and in industry journals.

"Michael's expertise and vast knowledge of asset management will be key as we continue to drive growth in this area of our financial services practice," Jack Katz, national financial services managing partner, said.
